7-8 quid each seems to be the norm, guess i'll have to pay it as i can't get any scrappies with one in.

ok peeps i'm nearly there. new rods in, belt on. i took the pins out gave a turn to fit the pins again the uppermost( fuel i think) is out by maybe 1 or 2 teeth of the cog. can i take the belt off and adjust the wheel manually? this one will sound daft but hey i need to know, does anyone have an image of the route for the alt belt? as i put it on the way i thought it should go but i'm left with way to much slack.

You've done it wrong then, did you undo the bolts on the fuel pump pulley to tension the belt?

thanks for the image dunno what i was thinking  what happened with the pins, i set the tensioner back, undid the fuel to get the belt over, tightened fuel back, undid tensioner and went to remove pins but the fuel was jambed tight, guess my 9 mm is a bit off. so i started again, took the tension off, lined up, took pins out, put tension back on then gave it a turn to line up and thats when it's out a bit. thinking about it now i reckon it's the 9mm bit i used that could have led to the problem. i'll try another. see it's 9.5mm from the tech.drawing. i'll get one tomorrow and have another blast.

Why are you playing with the tensioner after you've taken the locking pins out? This is why they aren't lining up, it should all be done with the pins in place.

yep, think i've misread the bit size but i'll get a new one to be certain. i think when the pins where in 1st time and the tension put on it, the 9mm(think mine is smaller) moved fractionally jamming it. i'll give it another blast in the morn.

I don't think the problem is the bits. From the way you've explained it I don't think you're doing it correctly but it's quite hard to understand exactly what you're doing.

ok with all the pins in, tensioner pushed back to allow more space, i needed to undo the nut on the fuel to get the belt over. i then tightened the fuel nuts, undid the tensioner nut so that it tightened on the belt then tightened the nut. i then removed the pins bar the jammed 1. thats why i was messing about with the tensioner after the pins where out. well bar 1 :D .
sorry i do tend to rush thro my replies and not to clear.
i'll have another go in the morn.

Okay, that is what I thought. You need to have the fuel pump bolts undone to tension the belt, this is done with an allen key on the tensioner as per pictures 4 & 8 on the diagram above.
