we're getting the volunteers 8) can anyone offer us a workshop for the weekend :?: :D

What we need is somewhere between Rotherham and Essex  Saves massive travelling

I'm sure everyone has tools relating to their trade. Like you say Luke, we just need the unit :D

If it was local I would be happy to help do unskilled jobs.

doesnt matter where it is if theres local parking for 20+ transits we can all stop over :D i'll bring my caravan down

if you think about it organised properly each person having their own small task to do and having a schedule from start to finish together we could do it :D i think it would be a great experiance seeing a van get built so quickly and also give people an opertunity to learn new skills to help your own projects 8)

i think we do need 20 or so people - even if you dont consider yourself an expert we need you there would be plenty of minor jobs need doing :D

Only my 2pence worth so don't shoot me!
I fully understand that it would be best done in a unit. What if The main (mechanical if wanted)parts were done prior but from the outside it still looked ordinary. Is there no way this could then be completed at a weekend meet in the great outdoors.I know for sure if i was at any meet and i came across a large group nutters banging/welding/swearing/building something outside i would be f%%kin hypnotised and would HAVE to stand and watch it being done. Also im sure if the site members even the no talkers knew this was gonna happen then i reckon it would be your biggest most memorable meet ever. You could try to do it at a multi van meet and show them other vanners not to mess with the "ford transit 45th"
Make the van look a nail (if you have nice replacement bumpers make sure the ones on arrival are rusty and twisted.Same with sld dirrty twisted rust replaced with nice windowed one but have it planned to perfection. If you know the van model some gifted chippie type with same model does a mock up interior at home as he has same model same dimensions then brings on the day and fits. This way could easily be done in a weekend and helps the "health and safety crew".

"Keep spanner storming" Its a good topic but would make a much better reality :)

1More thing tinker with the idea ("WEEKENDER IN A WEEKEND" "TRANSFORUM A STATE IN 48")then maybe contact these http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/mem ... eaker.aspx

i think it would have to be at a unit rather than a show - i just think the organising/logistics would be difficult out in the field, but there would be nothing to stop people coming along just to watch if they didn't want to get involved with the actual build, it would be like a weekend long meet :D and they could always make the cups of tea

I'm up for it.

Just need an old barn or something and somewhere to camp up.

How about hustling on the Farmer forums/local tv/papers?

Could be worth a try. I spoke to someone just out of Sudbury and he said he'll look into it but he does have a lot of expensive machinery and a grain dryer there and would he trust a load of people in vans near it all???

See what you can come up with
