MK3 power steering

As i am now about to fit power steering to my MK3 i have a few questions

1. the pump bracket is off a diesel transit. Is it hard to modify it to fit a pinto?

2.Is there a nack to bleeding it up or is it just a case of starting it up and turning the steering

3. as its dark and im too lazy to look is there a double pulley on the engine to take the pump? or is it a longer fan belt job


Pipes are not a problem as i am getting new flexi ones made up for me

As for bleeding it you need to go lock to lock a few times then hold it on full lock for a bit then hold full lock the other way.

I need a diesel pump and bracket for my conversion but.......

I have a Petrol PAS pump,bracket,double pulleys etc

A Swap maybe???

Guy88, you wanna take up that swap offer even if you have to buy the diesel bits as the petrol stuff is much rarer, id be surprised if yours has a double pulley on the crank

Even if it has a double pulley on the crank the chances are that you wont have the pulleys for the alternator and water pump

Do the swap mate, it will make things a lot easier

if this helps any i can get the full powersteering kit rack pump, brackets,ect £100 s/h of course but in full working order i priced the bracket up at my local ford dealer he said its a 2 piece bracket which i new one was around £85 and for the other it was around £60 so god knows how much it would of cost for everything
if anyones interested let me know

Sounds a bit pricey considering I paid £50 for the complete setup from Tony at 'Midniteclassics' On the other hand could you ask your mate how much for a petrol rack and pipes and a valve from the pump, I already have the pump and all pulleys etc but had to nick the valve from the pump for my V6.

hi i did this on my van changed to double pulleys the rack i used a granada p/s pump and bracket works well
