Just bought Ex BT

Postby cream69 » Thu Aug 03, 2006 12:03 pm

Hi guys, I've just bought an an ex BT,V reg 1999 swb low roof 120, 1 owner from new for £2200. 60000 miles on the clock
My mechanic had a good look at it and says for the price I've got a bargain. There's no major issues , althogh all 4 tyres will need to be replaced. The thing is theres only one passenger seat and I was wondering is possible to replace it with the double passenger seat on my
L reg 1993 transit, and if it is, is it a simple process?

Sounds good to me. Yup, the seat from a simular model will just bolt straight in, the holes/mounting points are in the floor already. If you are going to sell the van on, try to get one to match your drivers seat, or keep the old one and fit it back in again, so they match.

if you need to remove these, warm them up with a hair dryer and just peel them off.
Any residue can be removed with cigarette lighter fluid.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. tbh I don't like the look of my Lreg passenger seats. I think i'll look around for for seats in better condition and then and then put seat covers on them.

If you get a twin passenger seat from the same year it will be the same colour.

They don't look too bad to me, maybe somebody on here would like them, when you have found replacements.

A bit naughty that the seller ripped all the BT gear out, used it and didn't register it to them...saying this as 1 owner indicates BT and then you, if you mean BT then the person you bought this off of on ebay then the logbook will come back as 2 previous owners. In general though that last owner will not have done many miles as again in general BT dump the vans at around the 40-45k milage area.
BT vans have the nice little extra goodies in them like laptop safes, First aid boxes, hand washing basins and other wierd electrics, with the double seat the safe (if still fitted) will not be able to be used. Something to fix right now if it hasn't already been done is the roof rack that BT use means you have a bunch of holes in the roof, plug and seal them quickly. I used some plastic plugs for this very job from Maplins on the BT van I had but you have to ream the holes out slightly to get them to fit.
Oh and due to how BT sometimes fit their vans out if you can lift that ply floor and check any drilled holes are plugged and sealed it might be a good idea.
