1999 (V-Reg) Banana Engine into 1997 (R-Reg) Van???

My T reg transit runs a banana manifold type engine. Should be a straight swap, piece of piss, should only take a couple of hours to do. Good luck mate,

Thanks for all your help; just one other thing before I change the engine (probably won't be for a few weeks actually).

I noticed today my current lump is exhausting a fair bit of oil vapour out of the dipstick tube, once the dipstick has been removed and the engine is up to temperature. As I recall this is an indication of exceedingly worn piston rings is it not???

You will get oil vapour out the dipstick hole, that's why there is a stick blocking it!

All diesels breathe quite heavly, even by new van with zero mileage. Leave the dipstick out and it makes a hell of a mess!

no, they may spit a bit of oil because the oil pump is pumping oil round the engine, breathing is totally different, you really must learn about engines

During break-in, a small amount of compression blow-by, oil-fuel dilution, and oil consumption will be experienced. This is perfectly normal and quite common in new engines. Although acceptable at first it is imperative that these undesirable attributes be as close to zero as possible after break-in has been completed

excessive crankcase pressure in an engine can be a few things, head gasket leaking from a cylinder to an oil channel, worn rings/bores, cracked piston

engine is fooked basically
