Well it's been a while since I needed to buy any car aerosol paint, but judging by the shops I went into today it has become a slightly trickier affair than in my day - when you used to walk in, pick up a can of cellulose spray in the correct colour, and give the bloke £3.
So, no one stocks Garnet Red. Not in the new style crappy acrylic cans off the shelf anyway. One place said they can mix up a can 300ml for about £12, but there were three Garnet Red variants and they need to see the van. Halfords wanted £14 for the same thing but said there were 4 kinds of Garnet Red for the Transit - and then only up to 1998 (mines a 2000).
So - can anyone recommend where I can get two or three cans cheap as poss? Happy to take a punt on some cheapo off the shelf or if not special mix will have to do.
Getting ready to tackle those little bits of "surface" (I hope) rust before they get too far... oh yeh and colour code the bumpers which will take a fair bit

Spray paint is crap out of the local car shop mate,, even as bad from halfords .. go to a propper automotive pain supplier , who will give you a propper match , last time i had some mixed at jawel paints it cost £12 for 500ml

If you want it to match in the slightest then you will need to show them the van as they said.

Thanks, I guess it's the proper paint place that was £12 for a 300ml can then. Gonna work out expensive
But, I have achieved good results with cans before, just a question of good prep and then cutting back well.
I was thinking to get the off the shelf stuff for first top coats, and then final coat with a colour matched one, for cost sake. I guess I still could - using whatever looks closest for the first coats, just until it's red rather than primer grey, then finish off with the proper colour. As long as the paints are compatible. It's only little bits appart from the bumpers.

Poor move and false economy

Get the proper stuff @ £12 odd and you'll achieve professional results first go and that paint goes a lot further as it covers properly

Putting cheap sh*t paint underneath is likely to give you major problems like reactions etc...

I went to the place in Royal College St Camden - only to find it had gone - I'm sure it was a Morellis, it rings a bell anyway - they did me a couple of cans a few years back about £10-12 each I think. Also tried the car shop in Kentish town...but that had gone too...as has the one in North Finchley Even the Camden one was half the size with a solicitors having moved in to the other half, and they pretty much had no stock anyway - guess it's really tough times for car shops.
Luckily though, I have now found this...

Bit pricey!
Yeh, I think I'll fill out all the paint code numbers that the place I found want and take a chance - they are much much cheaper - I'm gonna need like five cans prolly. Might even buy a litre and brush it on then p400 wet n dry it
Also they do the clear plastic primer which I couldn't find anywhere.
