Code C1266 ABS fault.

Postby waynezbitz1 » Sun Apr 03, 2011 11:46 am

hi guys, a couple of weeks ago i lost all revs and the abs light came on.
i hadnt had a chance to get it plugged in until today. i changed over the pedal and that got me back up and running again but still with the abs warning light up on the dashboard.
my mates got a snapon solus (i think). diagnostic machine and for the first 2 times it came up with nothing, on the 3rd attempt it came up with the code...
C1266 ABS Valve power circuit failure.

what could this be??? is it a chance of a blown fuse or knackered relay?
if so where would i fine the said realy as ive found 3 lots on the van so far and most are unidentifiable and plain.

would like some advice please on where to start, i do have a spare scrap van to rob bits from.
the van is a 54 palte 90hp 350 rwd.
thanks. wayne

Check the fuse first.

this may sound quite dumb, well it is dumb lol, but where is the fuse?
ive checked the fuses under the bonnet and also the fuses on the top of the dash (pasengerside) and inly found 1 25 amp fuse blown, and low and behold my interior lights now work (first time since ive had the van).
i dont have a ahynes manual for it so couldnt even say which fuse does what tbh.

ive checked all fuses under the bonnet and in the passenger dash pocket and nothing is blown, is the abs relay the one clipped onto the top of the brake pedal box?

check the wiring loom over the top of the n/s wheel arch under the fuse box, the wiring is probably chaffed and going straight to earth

the wirring loom under the n/s all seems fine, the only problem i had was chaffing on the loom under the bonnet against the header tank but luckily its not chaffed through. the relay on the pedal box ive found to be the indicator relay. im still looking for a relay or a fuse for the abs system but still not sure wherre to look.

have u lifted the loom and turned it over to see the bottom of the loom, ive had this about 5 or 6 times and its always been the loom chaffed over the n/s wheel arch, the fuse for it is under the storage bin in the top of the dash on the ns
