Could it be the once dependable never broke down, diesel engine Transit which went on and on is now sh*t?
A soft engine, gearbox and clutch with dodgy computer timing system etc etc
Its hitting prices...hard

Firstly, are you sure that those prices weren't +VAT :?:

I've also been and seen and a rotten old X reg MK6 went for £1250 +VAT

MK7 57 reg with 67K on the clock went for £5500 + VAT

08 reg base model 260s/280s averaged around that price too, give or take £300 and the condition didn't seem to make any odds :|

Also, the auctions are a good place to get rid of trouble vehicles.

Those were definately sold prices , most vehicles were from lombard , local authority fleets and utility companies.

Very clean 08 plater 50-60k SWB low roof models were all 4-4500 all in .

The buyers fee is nearly 10% but VAT is included in the hammer price.

All sales were provisional ,but they have a screen on the wall and within a few minutes all but a few bids were accepted.

i know of someone who got a newish transit from an auction, he paid about 30% under dealer prices...only thing about it was it had security locks and no key, cut them off and the back was full to the roof with junk....turns out it was repo'd from a repo man

apart from that the van was spot on and ive heard of no problems with it since.

yes its a shot in the dark you don't know what you could be getting, but prices are good....surely you could hpi the ones you're interested in beforehand, maybe even get a dealer service print if you know someone who works for ford?
