Ford Transit to Daimler Dingo

I am inspired by the small rear engine ATV buggies that have used front engine cars and just move the lot to the rear and lock the hubs straight.
I have had a number of SJ's and have one now but they are too narrow and I want this build as close to full scale as possible.
Even a rear engine old beetle is only 1.55m wide not 1.7m.
The Dingo is more than half its length in width and if you reduce the width you will then have to reduce the height and then maybe the length to get the scale back.
I have worked on scale reduced vehicles before and they are not so appreciated by others.

The battles I do are not for the public to view so are on a larger scale than what the public sees in this video you can see my 2/3 scale tank this was filmed 15 miles west of Birmingham. This place is an old WW2 underground engine factory about 4 kilometres of tunnels we also go to some sites with about 2 square miles of private land to drive on.

I also like to fill in time between these events by going to car and MVT shows, this is from my local show this year.
The tank is 10ft long near the same as a Dingo but due to reduced width height is also affected.

The AT gun I made this year and near full scale I have only reduced the barrel length to make it more friendly for towing.

Hi mate, interesting project you have there.
This chap, http://www.milweb.net/features/reprostug.php, had the workshop next to me, he used to build quite a bit of stuff, German though. Helped him out with some of the mechanical stuff, so anything is possible. One thing for sure, put up the progress reports for us all to see.

Yes mate I know one of the guys who worked on this Mr Webster, it is a great job but I want light weight easy to tow but look as close as I can get to full scale for this one.

This is the sort of idea but probably a box section chassis and a strut on each wheel.

Does anyone know if the standard steel transit rims will take these 205/80R16 MS tyres?
The rims I am looking at are current standard rims with 185/75R16 on them at the moment.

My guess is yes as they look to be 6.5" x 16", so only 20mm less than a 185mm wide tyre.

Hi guys I just got on here to pick a few brains.
Sorry if there are set introduction areas etc that I have overlooked.

Anyway I am one of these mad Ba****ds that are into WW2 battle re-enactment and also airsoft.

Well I am looking into the ways I could build a rear engine light weight full scale version of the WW2 Daimler Dingo scout car.
The current way I am looking is to use Ford Transit front suspension and hubs and fit them in the rear of a custom made chassis along with the engine or at least a Ford engine.
The track with would also have to be close to 1.7M wide which is narrower that a standard Transit.
The Dingo used 18" rims but 16" will do at a push and look more like the Canadian version.

I've just seen this thread, where do you airsoft fella? I usually play Hilton park and Catterick but havnt played for some time due to a back injury.

I travel all over mostly North West if I can.
I mainly do WW2 airsoft so most of my stuff is tailored for it.
I am planning a game / event in North Wales for the start of June, it will be Germans V US and French resistance.
It is at an urban site that I am going to look over this Sunday.
