Hi my transit minibus that I am converting is about 5ft 9in wide and I see camper vans the same as mine with bed across the back. I am a little confused because I am told that bed has to be 6ft would I be able to re-register as a camper van? Can you advise please

The bed must be at least 6ft long.

Just had my mk5 approved by DVLA as Motor Caravan and the bed goes across the back.

I would have liked to built my bed across the width, but I'm too tall so had to build length ways. Might be worth thinking about this if you intend to sell it at some stage and someone over 6' comes to look.
