transit immobiliser problem

Postby guitarmart321 » Thu May 03, 2007 5:41 pm

Hi,
I hope somebody out there can help before I drive me transit over a cliff !!!

Its driving me barmy.

Started about a week ago. Stopped in the morning to pick up a news paper and wouldnt start. The dash lights all work and radio works but nothing!! I noticed the led red light on the consul started flashing fast when normally it goes out when it starts. After 10 minutes it started ok. This keeps happening, sometimes I can be trying it for 2 hours plus. Took it to local Ford garage who said we needed new keys. Still didnt solve problem so took it back to Fords who said it must be the tranceiver. Had new one fitted and no different !!!
I have absolutely no mechanical knowledge whatsoever about this sort of thing, can anyone help.
the van is W reg, year 2000, 2.5 diesel.
Thanks
Martin

when I turn key to start the light stays alight for a while about 3 seconds then goes out the van starts. When it dosent start the light stays on
for about 3 seconds then starts flashing fast the van will now not start.
Just tried it and started up 4 times in a row!!!!
But if i drove it around the block and then stopped it , it wouldnt start.
thanks

Had new keys programmed at Fords cost £188 and no difference !!!
One red key and two black keys with red dots, tried them all.

I think it seems to do it more when just been used. When left over night it starts every time in the mornings.
thanks

this is from another thread

Hi,
Got the exact same problem.
What code are you getting from led light (if you leave ignition on with led flashing away, a minute or so later it will flash out a code ie it will flash once followed by a short burst of three for example) mine flashed a code of 13. one flash followed by three. It would appear that the key if dodgy.
I've tried to get advice on bypassing but there is a lot of conflicting theories. So on that note got new keys and will find out if it worked on Friday. Will keep you posted.

did you wait the minute or so for the code?

Daft suggestion. Probably got nothing to do with this. But have you checked the battery and starter motor connections? Thats the main feed/earth, and the control one. Are they Clean and tight? I don't know much about the immobilser systems and flashing lights but it wouldn't hurt to check them over.
Current Transit: Mk8 tourneo Sport with go faster stripes.

Long time sold: Mk5 LWB 190, 2.5di banana SHR, 3 seats, SLD, Twin rear doors (rusted bottoms), manual locking & windows.
