if your getting the chuffing noise from vac solonoids and hessitation, would it not be more sensible to have the solonoids, vac pipes, turbo operation and egr operation checked first. and the turbo and egr if not operating correctly can cause diesel knock :!:

especially if your not getting any other injector rattle or power problems :?:

UPDATE

I went in this morning and asked to speak to the tech working on my van again.

It has had IDS update and injectors reprogrammed.

Can anyone tell me what this means and when he says injector reprogrammed does he mean re-coded or something else?

Is this something that has to be done on a regular basis and why would thigs suddenly go bad after all this time I have had van.?

He said this should 99% sort my problems and he can find no other faults with it apart from the crank pulley noise.

Hi all.

It has been around 300 miles now since being re-programmed from ford.

The hesatation is starting to come back again. :( !!!!!!!!

Am I right in thinking its time for some new injectors or maybe the mass airflow sensor is at fault somebody mentioned?

Has anybody had any luck with re-con injectors or know how much a new set will cost me or maybe another place I could get them from?

I take it this is a common fault....

Thanks in advance

Does sound like a common problem, does this mean you get your money back for the original misdiagnosis?, this is my concern, spending money and not fixing the problem.

i had the same problem with my 280 125 tdci 2005 , rough at tick over as if it is gonna cut out . On cold mornings it would be very low on power then a big cloud of smoke would come out of exaust, then ok normal power again. In the end i had ford dealer look at it , they replaced 2 injectors at a cost of £684 all is fine now (problem solved)

Well, I have read through this thread. Sounds so familiar. I had exactly the same symptoms on my '06 125ps 280 with about 125k miles on it.
4 new injectors seemed to cure the problem but now, 5k later the slight hesitancy, increased fuel consumption and slight rough cold idle has come back.
Yesterday, however it all got much worse. Started ok in the morning but when I went to pull away, no power at all and it stalled. Now will not rev at all.
Tried to see if there were any codes stored using the dash (since ford diesels don't seem to work with OBDs). Nothing there! Local bloke who works of Fords came out and says the injector pump has gone now. £1k to replace! EEEEEK!

Why I ever changed from my old DI I don't know. The guy up the road that got it off me for £200 is still running it.

Dave.

how can he say its the pump if he hasnt took it of and bentch tested it. :? :?:
could be one of injectors dropping rail pressure or IMV on pump at fault, or blocked fuel filter

if you need a pump i have 2 good ones for £250 each
