marked c channel up today

and cut them all out and laid crossmembers in place ready to weld

i welded the 2nd crossmember from the cab as the 1st one is comming back out
to bend side rail in to meet the cab so that is why ive missed one out
because the 1st one can go in to the 4th crossmember and cut shorter one for behind cab (i think)

also welded the last one before beavertail and very last one
so heres some pictures of the ones ive welded
so tomorrow i can weld all others up and maybe bend front over and weld up

today marked every 4 inches at front on the side rails



then cut top bottom and inside leaving out side intact



then bent round to shape nicely to the back of cab



it was a bit springy so wrapped a small wratchet strap round
and wratcheted up till i got it right then tacked the back up





doesnt look like ive done much but ive welded all the top crossmembers in
and cut 1x1 box and run it were i think wheels would run to stop sheets sagging
when running car up



now just needs top grinding off so sheets lay nice and flat maybe do that tomorrow (fathers day)

thanks for that comment but im not the best welder in the world
but i did buy a new snapon welder and very very happy with it
best money ive spent in ages

bought some mudguards last week
thought id try and fit them before i make slides for my ramps
and still awaiting my new rear lights to come too


had an idea lets see what we can make with these bits of scraps of metal



some mudguard brackets
welded a nut inside of box so it can swivel a bit cannot see really what i mean
i will dress them up when i take it off when ive done the slides for the ramps





so really its took me all day to make brackets for one side mudguards
tomorrow should be quicker i think



had a little problem with my mig it doesnt like the big bottles of gas so quess what



yes just a few off cuts and bolted to brackets were chains go through so can be removed easy
quick spray with etch primer just to take rusty look off it

today dint get much done
took my sheets to fabricaters to get guilotined to length
and drew a sketch of how i want my headboard pressing out
went to get some 12mm round bar



cut them into 5 inch lengths and ground ends smooth



then but each one in vice



but a piece of pipe over the top



and i but a slight bend on each one



these are to be welded on the inside of my side rails for rope hooks
as well as the lashing rings on the top when finnished
just for the times you need to strap things done
because theres never no where to tie things down when needed

well ive emailed my very detailed diagram
of my design for my side lockers



also ordered a new set of lights for the rear ive always used ford ones but lenses are
cracked so thought id splash out on new ones




havent done much today made another bracket for mudguard one left to do
awaiting lights then i can design my lighting board then do slides for ramps
pick my new 12,000lb britpart winch up never had much todo with them
but well see them cheap ones are ok on ebay but im on my second one on
my mk6 it didnt like pulling a 4dr hilux with diff jammed it started smoking
and refussed to play

i went and picked my new winch up today



i thought it was xmas
ive always used the cheaper winches which have been ok
but im on with my second one on my mk6
so thought id give a little extra and see what they last like
dont get me wrong ive never heard of them before but
my last one didnt even have any name on at all lol



got other mudguard finnished
just really waiting for parts now to get on plus going on weekend break so i can chill
and think wish i was home doing my truck as you do
