Déjà Blue

Driving up (or down if you are a railway person) the M1 tonight, I slotted a copy of Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks into the CD player.



I was struck by the realisation that, since it was released in 1975, I had listened to this in all of the Ordinary Van's predecessors (listed in the 'sig' below) while driving along the M1. Déjà vu like never before.

Of course, it would have been on Compact Cassette up to and including the Mk5.



I've added Tangled Up in Blue to the Ordinary Van's Top Twenty. I hope Alan 'Fluff' Freeman would approve: "Not 'arf, pop pickers!"

Sadly, the player and all the cartridges were stolen back in 1978, but I do still have the van

Now everyone knows what we are talking about, I'm interested to know if that Blood on the Tracks was a commercial release or a copy you made yourself. The system never really took off in the UK: players were rare and recorders even more so. I went straight to cassette and the first three Transits used a Uher CR 124 with 'home brew' amplifier (you couldn't buy high power amplifiers to operate from 12V DC in them days).

I'm pretty sure that particular one was a recording I made myself, I used to borrow LP's and record them on my Sharp eight track recorder I still have that machine as well

The badger takes early retirement?



Badgers are in the news again, but I'm not seeing any TDCi badges on '10' or '60' plate Transits, at least in my manor. Either the Transit badger has taken early retirement (on full gold-plated pension), or has been made redundant (with large golden handshake), or has otherwise fallen victim to the Comprehensive Spending Review and other austerity measures.

I think your right on the badge front, they have dissapeared from the latest vans, another cost cutting measure
